On May 31, 2014, Winthrop, Wash., residents witnessed how Okanogan County’s Swiftwater Rescue Team retrieved Jessie, a border collie-heeler mix, from the bed of a pickup truck that had rolled into the Chewuch River.

On June 3, 2014, a dog’s life was saved thanks to Washington’s Engine 76 firefighters, who were at the right place and at the right time. The hero rescuers witnessed when a car hit a female dog on 180th Street Southeast near Highway 9, and right away they rushed the innocent animal to a nearby vet clinic.

When the Jeter family from Lake Worth, Fla., came home this past February, their hearts broke when they realized their Pit bull named Phantom was missing. They searched their neighborhood day and night, but the dog seemed to be forever gone. Three months later, Phantom was spotted running on a busy street and taken to Animal Care and Control, and thanks to his microchip and Facebook, the Jeters were reunited with their dog.

Puppies rescued from an abandoned house

The Michigan Humane Society Cruelty and Rescue hotline received a call about puppies left in an abandoned house in Detroit.

When the MHS team arrived and looked through the window, they noticed two young, skinny puppies. It was clear that their health was in poor condition and they were in danger.

Once the team gained access to the house, the puppies excitedly greeted them. Yet, they were cold, hungry, and in desperate need of care.

Two puppies in Spain were recently born with green fur.  They are smaller and weaker than their siblings, and sadly, the female did not survive.  But her brother is a fighter, and hopefully there is enough Incredible Hulk in him to thrive.
