Police Rescue Dog from Highway Overpass on July 4th

Statistics show that July 4th is the day when the most pets go missing, due to our four-legged animals getting spooked by fireworks. On this year’s Independence Day, one lucky canine got a special police rescue.

Harley, a six-month-old German shepherd from Wichita, Kansas, got trapped on a dead-end ledge on the highway overpass at Kellogg and Tyler Road.

I-35 German Shepherd Gets Rescued and Adopted

On June 25, 2014, Dallas police officers chased an unusual fugitive down Interstate 35. The runaway was smart, hairy, and very fast on his four legs.

Commuters started calling authorities as early as 7:30 a.m. informing them of a German Shepherd running down I-35. Officer Charles Timmons and Sharifa Williams were dispatched to the scene to try to control and capture the canine, but the dog turned out to be too smart for its own good and the officers requested Animal Control Officer Eric Pogue as backup.

Police Officers Rescue “Vicious” Pit bull and Reunite Him with Owner

When Arlington Police Officers received various calls about a dangerous Pit bull roaming the streets they responded immediately. Thanks to their dangerous dog training classes, Sgt. Gary Carter and Officer Heather Gibson were prepared to deal with the “dangerous” pet, yet, when they met the dog, they realized the animal was not dangerous at all, he was just thirsty and tired.

When the police officers arrived at the last location where the white Pit bull had been seen, they clearly recognized the pet was dehydrated and needed help.

Update: Dog Rescued from Rain Now Waits for Forever Home

In April, we told you about the heroic actions of Dallas Police Officers who rescued a large dog seeking refuge behind a big box store at 2:30 a.m., instead of scaring away the canine from the property. Those officers saved Martin’s life (the dog).

Read “Dallas Police and Rescue Group Work Together to Help Dog” to learn more about Martin’s rescue.
