Mila has a great eye and an even better sense of timing, so she has no problem catching and inhaling 30 little nibbles in a minute.  What she DOES have a problem with is finding a home, which is a wonder, because she’s sweet and smart as has the cutest little satellite ears ever!

At the end of August, a Pit bull mix from Lexinton, Ky., was found tied to a fence on Campbell St. What was shocking about the abandoned dog wasn’t how she was left tied to the fence, but rather the abuse she was put through prior to getting dumped. The eight-month-old dog had a profane word branded on her fur.

For more than a week, residents of Bartow County in Georgia, called authorities reporting an abandoned and emaciated Pit bull living inside a drainage pipe along the I-75. Animal lovers, police officers and firefighters attempted to rescue the pet numerous times, but their attempts always failed.

On August 12, 2014, after days of coaxing and luring the female dog, named Norton, Friends to the Forlorn Pit Bull rescue group succeeded in rescuing the highway drainage pipe pet.

Dirk van der Sterre, owns and manages FTC-FBO, a private airport terminal at Morristown Municipal Airport in New Jersey, and from time to time, he helps Home for Good Dog Rescue (HFG) transport homeless animals from Georgia and North Carolina to the Northern states. There, these unwanted pets get ready to move into forever homes.

Van der Sterre is an animal lover and when an opportunity presented itself to help these pets, he didn’t hesitate.
