Bonded Senior Dogs Need a Home by Monday

Senior dogs Wilma and Homer, along with about 50 other dogs, need to find homes by Monday or else they will all be euthanized.  Even if they are taken in by rescues or foster families, they all need somewhere to go to make room for the dozens of animals brought into the Mercer County Animal Shelter in West Virginia every day.  PLEASE SHARE.

These are only some of the dogs on the kill list for Monday:

Mistletoe the Matted Dog Gets New Haircut

On December 10, 2014, a woman from Merriam, Kan., was out for a walk in a public park when she found a stray dog resting in the park’s gazebo. The dog’s fur was so matted that his eyes, nose and mouth were not visible. It is a mystery how the pet is alive after enduring such animal neglect, the matted fur on his face made it difficult for the little dog to eat or see.

Woman Discovers Injured but Alive Bait Dog in Garbage Bag

On November 25, 2014, Karen Herrera from Fontana, Calif., found a white and brown female dog inside a garbage bag tossed on the side of the road. The dog had endured abuse at the hands of her owner prior to getting discarded with the garbage. The dog’s body had multiple bite wounds and patches of missing fur, yet, she had somehow survived the unimaginable and patiently waited on the side of the road for a helping hand.

Starving Dog Wanders into Garage and Finds Rescue

This past November, a starving large breed dog, possibly a Great Dane mix, wandered into a Greeneville, Tenn. garage, looking for shelter, food and peace. The malnourished black dog probably had a few days left – if not hours – to live, all he wanted was a comfy place to rest his tired body, little did he know that walking into that garage would forever change his life.
