Hundreds Protest SLC Police Headquarters over Dog Shooting

Hundreds of people gathered outside of the Salt Lake City police headquarters on Saturday to protest officer Brett Olsen’s shooting of a Weimaraner that was minding his own business in his own fenced-in yard.  Geist’s owner, Sean Kendall, and the community want justice.

Yesterday South Dakota’s ban on breed specific legislation went into effect, leading citizens to call July 1st Dog Breed Independence Day.

I-35 German Shepherd Gets Rescued and Adopted

On June 25, 2014, Dallas police officers chased an unusual fugitive down Interstate 35. The runaway was smart, hairy, and very fast on his four legs.

Commuters started calling authorities as early as 7:30 a.m. informing them of a German Shepherd running down I-35. Officer Charles Timmons and Sharifa Williams were dispatched to the scene to try to control and capture the canine, but the dog turned out to be too smart for its own good and the officers requested Animal Control Officer Eric Pogue as backup.

Dog Gets Head Stuck in Jar and Is Rescued from Abandoned House

 

Olive, a three-year-old Chow mix had been living in an abandoned house and hadn’t been able to eat, drink water or breathe right for several days, because her head was stuck inside a plastic container. Her life changed when a Good Samaritan from Detroit, Mich., saved Olive’s live when she contacted the Michigan Humane Society to get the poor dog rescued.

Puppy Almost Drowns in Well

 

Not all homeless animals get the help they need, but it warms out hearts to know that organizations across the world are willing to do anything they can to help save a helpless animal.

In India, Animal Aid Unlimited (AAU) did just that when they heard of a puppy drowning in a well.
