A stray dog from Tempe, Ariz., stops traffic when it became trapped underneath a light rail train in the crossing near University Drive and Rural Road. Luckily for the pet, police officers were able to rescue the canine before perishing in a tragic accident.

No, Chacho is not actually invisible, but in the eyes of all those who walk through CIAAM (Centro Integral de Animales Abandonados de Madrid) he is. The shelter’s staff and volunteers have classified him as an “invisible” dog because he is a large breed, an adult, and a mixed breed. Characteristics of dogs hardly anyone want to adopt.

No one knows how Rosie, a Rottweiler, ended up living in Neerabup National Park, Australia, but in 2013, Calli San and her good friend Lee, made it their missing to rescue the abandoned and neglected dog.

Jema is a 4 year old pit bull mix who happens to be deaf.  She arrived at 4 Luv of Dog Rescue (located in Fargo, North Dakota) nearly two years ago from a regional pound where she would otherwise have been euthanized because of her disability.

Felines & Canines, a Chicago based no-kill animal shelter, rescued Sheba on July 5, 2014, after they successfully placed many of their own animals in forever homes on July 4th. When they met Sheba, their hearts broke and they new they had to pull her and try to save her.

According to official reports, the rescue group Start Over Rover has pulled 16 dogs of various age from a puppy mill in northwest Kansas.  They were also assisted by Volunteers from an animal shelter in Hastings in this courageous rescue.

Olive, a three-year-old Chow mix had been living in an abandoned house and hadn’t been able to eat, drink water or breathe right for several days, because her head was stuck inside a plastic container. Her life changed when a Good Samaritan from Detroit, Mich., saved Olive’s live when she contacted the Michigan Humane Society to get the poor dog rescued.

Not all homeless animals get the help they need, but it warms out hearts to know that organizations across the world are willing to do anything they can to help save a helpless animal.

In India, Animal Aid Unlimited (AAU) did just that when they heard of a puppy drowning in a well.

Eddie is one of the 124 dogs from Olympic Animal Sanctuary (OAS) in Forks, Wash., that lived caged and without access to water and food on a daily basis, but thanks to Guardians of Rescue, his life along all of his jail mates’ lives changed when they were surrendered by their owner, Steve Markwell, to the organization on December 24, 2013.

In April, we told you about the heroic actions of Dallas Police Officers who rescued a large dog seeking refuge behind a big box store at 2:30 a.m., instead of scaring away the canine from the property. Those officers saved Martin’s life (the dog).
