Most of us – and our dogs – are happily enjoying the nicer weather.  No more scraping ice off the car for us, and no more salty paws or belly-deep snow for them.  But big dogs with thick coats revel in the wintry wonderland.  Here are some that are already pining for the frost.

Just a year ago, Shelton, a young mutt from Resistencia, Argentina, showed up to the surrounding area of the Normal Sarmiento school. No one knew who he belonged to and most people didn’t care about the homeless puppy. He scavenged for food and searched for a safe place to spend at night, but without him knowing it, a group of students, school librarians and other locals who fell in love with the dog took it upon themselves to help him survive.

By now, just about everybody has heard of the earthquake disaster in Nepal.  More than a week has passed now, and search and rescue teams are still struggling to reach some of the more remote areas and villages.

Brian Lachat says intersection US-41 and Goodlette Frank Road in Naples, Fla., is a busy one, and seeing a box in the middle of the road is very unusual. On May 1, 2015, the man witnessed how that box, which was in a reality a dog crate, got hit by three cars and bounced from one lane to the other, and when he caught a glimpse of it in his rear-view mirror, the man realized there was a dog inside the crate.

A pet store in Brazil swapped all of its animals with shelter pets and proved its customers that shelter pets were no different than pure bred animals. The store found owners for all shelter animals displayed in the store and what’s best, if the store hadn’t told customers the animals were shelter pets, customers would have not known the difference.
