It is very common to find alligators in Florida’s ponds, but on December 30, 2014, a Shepherd/Alaskan Malamute mix was found trapped in the mud of a pond near the Central Florida Fairgrounds. The unidentified dog is now known as Gator and thanks to two heroic officers, the pet is alive today.

On Christmas Eve, Pillo a dog from Córdoba, Spain, was abandoned inside a trash container. His previous and unknown owner wanted nothing more with this dog. The pet was matted, beaten and starved. Whoever had him decided that Christmas Eve was the perfect night to toss the dog in a garbage bin and leave him there to die. Fortunately, the dog was discovered and saved.

On a very cold night, Hector a former stray dog, lost two of his legs and part of his tail when he froze to the ground. Fortunately he was found by a Good Samaritan who saved the dog’s life and adopted him into her family.

Lisa Korol, a 47-year-old woman from Canada, found the Border collie mix and took the pet to a veterinarian. She cared for the dog while he healed from his injuries.

On November 30, 2014, Pets Without a Home (Animales Sin Hogar), an animal rescue organization from Montevideo, Uruguay, received a plea to help a mutilated dog taking refuge in a make-shift dog house in a backyard. No knows who the dog belongs to, who abused him, or how the tortured dog arrived at the home, but the little dog, now named Nick, had all four limbs and one of his ears mutilated, in addition to having part of his nose missing.

Wendell McClure is a resident of Bakersfield, California and an avid fisherman.  This past Thursday was like any other for him at the start, even if it was a bit rainy out that morning.  What was supposed to be a day of fishing, turned out to be a harrowing day of dog rescue, and now he’s considered a bit of a local hero.
