Never underestimate the power of a microchip. For the Griffith family, their black Labrador is back home after he was lost for three long years, because the pet was microchipped  when the family first got him.

Kurmy lived in King, N.C., but three years ago he jumped his home’s fence and ran away. The Giffiths looked for him but never found him, and after months of empty searches, they gave up all hope of ever being reunited with their loved pet.

On August 18, 2014, Tim Clifton, director of Animal Control in Clarksville, Tenn., rescued a tiny dog dumped in a garbage container. At first Clifton couldn’t identify the dog’s breed because the Yorkshire terrier was covered in blood, grease and trash. Nevertheless, the small pet was rushed to a vet clinic where his life was saved.

On July 30, 2014, Darren Clark from Hollywood, Fla., was out walking his sister’s dog, India, when a man approached him and robbed him at gunpoint. The armed thief took Darren’s cellphone and the nine-year-old Yorkshire Terrier. Two days later, police officers found the pet roaming the streets. Thanks to the pet’s microchip, India was reunited with her owner.

Eldad Hagar and the Hope for Paws crew have rescued yet another dog. This poor pit bull was tortured by neighborhood kids.  They would throw rocks at him, and beat on him.  Thanks to a good Samaritan placing a call to the Hope for Paws gang, this poor, tortured soul is in good hands.

On July 28, 2014, Jeff Kopp was walking his dog Bobby near the Diamond Lake area in Michigan, and thanks to the dog’s stubbornness to walk towards a certain area, a newborn baby girl who had been abandoned in the bushes was saved.

Kopp and Bobby go out every morning, but on that day the dog insisted on walking an unusual route. Around 10:30 a.m. the dog pulled his owner towards a satellite dish along some plants, 3-feet off Marion road.
