Pit bull Seeks Safe-Haven at Fire Station

On Monday, June 30, 2014, an injured three-year-old female Pit bull, walked into Philadelphia’s Engine 9 Ladder 21 Fire Station with the last strength she had in her body. The canine, named Guenevere by the firefighters, had been severely injured around her neck and was close to dying, but thanks to Firefighter Ryan Craig, that Monday was not the last Monday of her short life.

The injured dog wanted help, and somehow knew that in a fire station she would find the help she desperately needed.

Firefighters Safely Extricate Puppy Stuck in Tire Rim

On June 20, 2014, firefighters from Station 41 in East Bakersfield, Calif., got an unusual visitor at their fire house. The visitor was a four-legged Pit Bull puppy stuck in a jam. The curious pup got his head wedged in a tire rim, but lucky for him, the hero rescuers used oil and safely pull him off the rim.

Rescuers save Dogs’ Lives Performing CPR

 

On June 27, 2014, two German Shepherds almost lost their lives when they were trapped inside their burning home, but thanks to local firefighters and rescue workers, the dogs were pulled from the flames and revived.

Paramedics Equipped with Pet Oxygen Masks Save Two Chicago Dogs

On June 26, 2014, Patchy the Pit bull and Bella the Shih-tzu, from Chicago’s south side, were pulled from a burning home and revived all thanks to quick acting firefighters and city paramedics equipped with pet oxygen masks.

Missing Arcadia Firefighter’s Dog Found; Still Searching for Firefighter

 

According to Ventura County Sheriff Geoff Dean, it’s been nearly a week since Duke and firefighter Michael Herdman went missing in the Los Padres National Forest while camping with a friend.  Duke has just been located, and the search is still on for Herdman.

Firefighters Rescue Mastiff Trapped Under Boulders

On June 17, 2014, Khaleesi, a ten-month old bull Mastiff from Barrington, Canada, chased a cat into a backyard near its home in Riverhead Road. In the yard, the cat hid in between the gaps of large boulders and the dog followed thinking she too could fit. The canine, a few dozen times larger than the cat wedge herself in between the gaps and became trapped.

Mary Ferguson, the pet owner, placed a call to local firefighters as soon as she caught up to her pet and found her confined in between the large rocks.

German shepherd Almost Drowns Trapped in Sea Rocks

In Mallorca, Spain, Yanko, an elder German shepherd, was rescued by firefighters from a rocky shore in Marina de Bonaire Cocodrilo, where the pet was trapped.

No one knows exactly how it happened, but it is believed the elder canine was walking along the rock wall when he slipped and became trapped in between the large sea boulders. Yanko’s head was the only thing visible, and the only way to free him was to pull him under water.

Dog Gets Stuck in Security Bars

On June 11, 2014, Miami-Dade Fire Rescue received an unusual call. The firefighters are used to running out to put out fires and assist in the rescue of humans, but when the caller said the one in need was a Dachshund, the unit knew the day would be one they will always remember.

A Dachshund or Weiner dog as they are commonly know, needed rescuers to get him out of the jam he put himself in. The small dog tried to squeeze through burglar bars but unfortunately got stuck.

Dog Survives 15-Story Fall

Susie is one lucky dog! She and her owner, 68-year-old Elaine Caralias from Fort Lauderdale went over to visit a neighbor who lives on a high-rise apartment building.  Once inside the residence, the dog became interested in something and started sniffing around the place. Her curiosity led her to a closet where she found an open air duct on the floor and unfortunately the pet fell through the duct 15 floors down.
