Garbage Man Saves Emaciated Dog Found in Trash

On Oct. 30, 2014, Nathan Binnie, a garbage collector from New Stanton, Pa., was working outside a home on Yellow Pine Lane when he discovered an emaciated female dog inside a garbage can. Thanks to his discovery, the “skin-and-bones” dog was saved.

“It was just one of those cans I didn’t pick up and just throw in my truck,” said Binnie. “You could see every bone. [The dog was] shivering and shaking. It was just horrific.”

Mekane’s owner and handler, Brenda Peachey, from Strike K-9 Wilderness Search and Rescue team, noticed the dog went missing when the pooch didn’t return from the exercise.

Starving Dog Found Locked in Crate in Public Park

On Sunday, October 5, 2014, Melrose Park Neglected Dogs feeders, a group of volunteers in Houston, Texas, who feed and help find placement within rescue organizations for the hundreds of dumped dogs found at the park, came across a case of abuse and neglect unlike any they had seen before.
